A soccer prodigy who was drafted to the MLS before even graduating High School, Jozy made his professional debut in the U.S. Open Cup in 2006. He scored his first professional goal at just 16 years of age while playing for the New York Red Bulls. While playing there he went on to become the youngest player to ever start a Major League Soccer playoff match.
Jozy has continued to take his talents around the world and has played for several professional teams such as Villarreal, Xerez, Hull City, Bursaspor and AZ. In 2011, Jozy scored the first U.S. goal in the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament. He has amassed 40 goals in his career.
Jozy has also represented the United States on various levels of international competition, featuring for the United States U-17 team at the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship, the U-20 team at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup, the U-23 team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and the senior national team at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He is currently a member of the senior national team.
In 2007, Jozy was a candidate for ESPN's Next Award and was featured in the Adidas "Impossible is Nothing" ads.
2012-2013, Jozy had a great year for AZ and helped them lift the Dutch Cup. He then transferred to EPL club Sunderland where he is an essential part of their attack. His confident club play has been noticed and he is all but a lock for the 2014 World Cup Squad. Look for big things to come from this young, powerful striker!
When he's not playing soccer, Jozy is an activist helping to raise money for relief efforts in Haiti.
